Can a Modi-led dispensation re-unify estranged Pakistan with India?

The premise on which I have taken up this thought forward is that the current status of Pakistan is “Complicated” as in ‘facebook ‘ or other social media platforms. There is a resource crisis, an availability crisis, a currency crisis, a credibility crisis, an economic crisis and as icing on the cake, “a leadership crisis”. The nation cannot figure out its ‘vitals’ from its elbow.

Added to the mess is the reluctance of donors or ‘uplifters’ to pitch in further because return on investment is suspect. With Chinese treating Muslims (who’s champion-but muted is Pakistan) as filth needing re-education, lifting away their women either as trophy or a deal, there are uneasy undercurrents in the relationship with big brother. To that, add gradual suspicion building amongst the affected populace about the finer agenda of CPEC, the situation looks dismal. The West and FATF don’t see Imran doing enough to allay their fears of a collapsing pseudo democratic structure held by the brass.

The ‘Riyasats’ whether Balochi, KpK, Gilgit- Baltistan, Sindh etc aren’t comfortable either and are raising their heads seeking independence or Indian indulgence against Pakistan.

India, on the other hand is stemming close to 8% growth rate, a stable system of governance in a mature democracy. A non appeasing nation which has stopped hiding her relationships as in the display of bonhomie with Israel. There is an election fairly positively ranged ‘pro incumbency’ largely due to the absence of vision, mission, and an honest intent among a fractured fringe called members of opposition most of whom are trying to evade or delay arrest warranted due to their past karmas.

Consider an unstable neighbour having huge virgin ,untouched potential of the Indus river systems for consumptional and non consumptional purposes, unexploited resource rich in minerals and also producing great quality cotton, cane and wheat and potential source of gas and / or connectivity to Afghanistan and beyond, but disabled due to internal contradictions, strife, hunger, rising prices of essentials , poorly managed youth capital leaning towards a destructive agenda and a practically cracking / collapsed establishment.

Narendra Modi has over the years demonstrated a no nonsense attitude when it comes to decision making with least ambiguity. The situation that Pak faces today is like between the devil and the deep sea. A life line thrown at a sinking Pak with a few riders may well bring about a win-win proposition. It may elevate Imran from the begging bowl to a unifier of sorts. It may make Modi a larger than 56″ Johnnie Bravo. But look at the potential, should it come to fruition.

The question that flys past the oval hairless pate is: Is it doable? How will it change the world order should it actually transpire?
